Congresswoman begins district-wide agriculture tour in North Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER, IN – In recognition of Indiana’s Agriculture Appreciation Month, Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02), member of the House Committee on Agriculture, stopped in Wabash County today as part of her district-wide agriculture tour. During the visit to Midwest Poultry Services, Walorski toured the facility and met with agriculture experts and business leaders.
“Hoosier farmers, small businesses, and agriculture industries are the drivers of job creation throughout northern Indiana,” said Walorski. “This week’s Ag Tour is an opportunity to highlight some of these important facilities and learn more about their day-to-day operations and the impact they have on our communities.”
Midwest Poultry Services is family-owned and operated egg farm in North Manchester that has been providing eggs all over the country since 1875. The fifth-generation farm, run by the Krouse family, has been a staple of the North Manchester by providing jobs and an outlet for local farmers with 20,000 acres of corn.
During the visit, Walorski met with employees and learned about egg farming while touring the facility and was joined by Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Ted McKinney.
“From hen production to lumber and potato growers, each of the businesses I’m visiting this week is another example of the important role the agriculture industry plays right here in Wabash County. As a new member of the House Committee on Agriculture, this is a great opportunity for me to meet and visit with farmers and employees to talk about how we can continue to make agriculture a pillar of Indiana’s economy.”
Walorski will take a two-day tour to visit eleven different agricultural facilities and operations in the Second Congressional District. Visits will range from farms, to lumber yards and attending Marshall County Farm Bureau luncheon.
Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02) speaks with President and CEO of Midwest Poultry Services, Bob Krouse as they tour the facility.
Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District in Indiana, where she serves as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, House Armed Services Committee and House Committee on Agriculture, and Chair of Nutrition Subcommittee.
