Walorski Statement on President Obama’s Proposal for a New Authorization for Use of Military Force

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02) issued the following statement in response to the President’s proposed Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) to combat ISIL:

“There is no question that ISIL poses a danger to the U.S. and our allies. Unless we confront this growing challenge, ISIL will continue to threaten the safety of Americans at home and abroad. For the first time I can recall, an American president is asking for less authority and wants to limit the ability of the U.S. military to combat this radical group. In a war where the president has detailed no path towards success, I am skeptical of his strategy and there are still too many questions that have not yet been answered. The American people deserve clarity and I’m looking forward to hearings this week in Washington where my colleagues and I will examine if the Administration will actually create a winning game plan for the American people.”

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District in Indiana, where she serves as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, House Armed Services Committee, and House Committee on Agriculture.
