WASHINGTON D.C. – In the spirit of bipartisanship, Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02), a Republican, and Dr. Raul Ruiz (CA-36), a Democrat, announced they will sit next to one another during the President’s State of the Union address tonight.
Both Ruiz and Walorski, members of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, have been champions of America’s 20 million veterans and ensuring they receive the care they deserve from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).
“I want to thank Dr. Ruiz for the invitation to sit together and listen to the President as he describes his vision for the country,” said Walorski. “While Raul and I may come from different backgrounds and different political beliefs, he and I have both fought to bring greater accountability and transparency to the VA. Our nation’s veterans and their families never hesitated when they were called to serve their country and he and I both agree that our veterans deserve nothing but the best.”
“Rep. Walorski has been a great ally in our shared goal of ensuring our veterans receive the benefits they have earned and deserve,” said Dr. Ruiz. “I look forward to sitting together for this evening’s State of the Union address and building our working relationship to continue the fight to hold the VA accountable and serve our veterans with excellence.”
Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District in Indiana, where she serves as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, House Armed Services Committee, and House Committee on Agriculture.
