Weekly initiative highlights a local Hoosier or business for notable achievements

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02) announced this week’s honoree for her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. During a speech on the House floor, Walorski congratulated the Penn High School girls’ basketball team for winning the Class 4A Girls Basketball State Championship last month.

The girls’ basketball team and Coach Kristi Ulrich won the first state title in the program’s history after defeating the defending state champs, the Columbus North Bull Dogs. The victory was led in part by a combined 45-point effort from teammates Cameron Buhr and Kaitlyn Marenyi. The Kingsmen won the game by a score of 68-48, finishing the night shooting 52 percent from the floor and ending the season with a 28-2 record.

This is truly an exciting victory, and it is because of the dedication of Coach Kristi Ulrich and the hard work of these student-athletes that this honor was earned,” said Walorski. “On behalf of the people of the Second Congressional District of Indiana, I applaud Kristi for building this program, thank the student-athletes for their determination, and congratulate them all on an amazing season.”

Walorski honored the team as part of her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. Each week, Walorski highlights notable Hoosiers, companies, and organizations that are making valuable contributions in the Second Congressional District.
