WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a special reception organized by Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02) joined members of Congress at the United States Capitol to celebrate the 96th birthday and honor the 70th anniversary of president emeritus Reverend Theodore Martin Hesburgh in the priesthood.

“Reverend Hesburgh has devoted a lifetime to public service and served as an incredible influence on historic issues shaping our nation’s history. I am honored to celebrate these two very special occasions with him today in our nation’s capital, and convey my deepest gratitude for his work from the University of Notre Dame to our global communities,” said Walorski.

Reverend Hesburgh celebrates his 96th birthday on Saturday, May 25th and his 70th anniversary as a priest on June 24th. He was ordained at Notre Dame as a priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross on June 24, 1943. Walorski also presented Rev. Hesburgh with a special insert in the Congressional Record to honor this important celebration.
