Walorski: America Must Restore Energy Independence

“Biden’s reliance on Russian oil emboldens Putin, bankrolls deadly destruction, and endangers Americans.”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) is calling on President Joe Biden to end his administration’s longstanding assault on American-made energy and restore our nation’s energy independence.

“Energy security is national security. During the Trump Administration, we worked hard to end any reliance on dangerous adversaries, lower gas prices for families, and make America energy independent. From his first days in office, President Biden attacked American-made energy with radical executive orders that rolled back domestic production, killed jobs, raised costs, and created onerous regulations. Thanks to Biden’s attack on American-made energy, our nation imports 600,000 barrels of oil per day from Russia – padding Putin’s pockets and funding his unprovoked war on Ukraine,” said Congresswoman Walorski. “Biden’s reliance on Russian oil emboldens Putin, bankrolls deadly destruction, and endangers Americans. It’s past time to unleash American-made energy production. America will be safer and stronger when we are energy independent.”

To end America’s reliance on foreign energy and restore energy independence, Congresswoman Walorski is taking key steps to rebuild our energy infrastructure, create jobs, and strengthen our energy security.

  • Co-sponsored the American Energy Independence from Russia Act, which would immediately approve the Keystone XL pipeline, unleash U.S. liquid natural gas (LNG) exports to boost natural gas production, restart oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters, and protect energy and mineral development from attacks by the Biden administration.
  • Co-sponsored the Never Yielding Europe’s Territory (NYET) Act, which would sanction Russia’s energy industry and stop construction of Nord Stream 2 in addition to other provisions to impose costs on Putin and support Ukraine.
  • Co-sponsored the Keystone XL Pipeline Construction and Jobs Preservation Act to authorize the construction and operation of the Keystone XL Pipeline.
  • Supports renewed utilization of pipelines, fracking, and all domestic sources of energy production to prioritize an “all-of-the-above” approach to energy security.

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Ranking Member of the House Ethics Committee.
