MISHAWAKA, Ind. – U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) this week joined community leaders and volunteers to bless the new Safe Haven Baby Box installed at the Rochester Fire Department. Alongside Rochester City Mayor Ted Denton, Fire Chief Thomas Butler, and Founder and CEO of Safe Haven Baby Boxes Monica Kelsey, Congresswoman Walorski helped to unveil this important community resource.
“The new Safe Haven Baby Box in Rochester is an innovative and lifesaving resource for our community. Every child is worthy of protection and care, and I pray that this life-affirming baby box will serve as a light to women facing a crisis,” said Congresswoman Walorski. “I am grateful to Mayor Denton, Chief Butler, and all of the Hoosiers who have made this a reality, as well as our incredible first responders who are prepared to care for any child that arrives.”

In Indiana and across the country, Safe Haven Baby Boxes offer a lifeline to women in need. Equipped with advanced technology and climate control, the baby box is designed to alert first responders and protect infants placed in the bassinet until help arrives.
Last month, Congresswoman Walorski participated in the blessing of a new Safe Haven Baby Box in Plymouth.
Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Ranking Member of the House Ethics Committee.
