WALORSKI TO OBAMA: WHY CAN’T THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BALANCE A BUDGET?

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Obama visited Capitol Hill to meet with the Republican Congress for the first time in two years. As only one of seven Members to address President Obama, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) asked him why the federal government does not balance the budget, and the President responded: “America is not a family.”

“Hoosier families sit around their kitchen tables and make tough choices to keep a budget, and Washington must do the same with our taxpayer dollars,” said Walorski. “I appreciate the President coming to speak with Congress, and I hope he heard our concerns and will come to the table to work on a serious budget plan.”

After the meeting, Walorski joined the House Republican Leadership Press Conference–as the only freshman member—to discuss the meeting with the President. Click here to watch.
