Walorski Statement: Bipartisan Agreement Reached on Veterans Affairs Legislation

Monday, July 28, 2014

WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02), a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Veterans Affairs Conferee, made the following statement today after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Jeff Miller (R-Fla.), the co-chairmen of the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Conference Committee announced they had reached a deal on legislation to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):

“I want to thank Co-Chairmen Miller and Sanders for their unwavering dedication to reach a bipartisan agreement today. The fact that the House and Senate conferees were able to work together and cooperate on this deal demonstrates that regardless of politics or party, we can unite to pass meaningful reforms that will improve the quality of life for our nation’s veterans. The VA is unable and unwilling to reform itself. Today is one more step in the right direction towards helping our vets get the best care they deserve.”
