Weekly initiative highlights a local Hoosier or business for notable achievements
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02) announced this week’s honoree for her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. During a speech on the House floor earlier today, Walorski recognized Vernita Todd, a champion for public health advocacy in the northern Indiana community.
Todd, who will soon leave her post as Chief Executive Officer of Heart City Health Center, has tirelessly advocated on behalf of others. Just last year, she was awarded the Elizabeth K. Cooke Advocacy MVP Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers for her role in prioritizing advocacy as a crucial component of Heart City Health Center’s creed.
“During her time as Chief Executive Officer, Vernita has helped the Heart City Health Center achieve its mission to contribute to the health of our community by providing access to high quality and accessible healthcare,” Walorski said. “She has continually worked for the greater good, not only impacting the lives of those in our community, but also those throughout the country as a result of her advocacy. On behalf of the people of Indiana’s Second Congressional District, I thank Vernita for her commitment to helping Hoosiers and wish her the very best in her new endeavor.”
Walorski honored Vernita Todd as part of her ‘Who’s Who in IN-02’ initiative. Each week, Walorski highlights notable Hoosiers, companies, and organizations that are making valuable contributions in the Second Congressional District.
