WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02) issued the following statement after the House passed The Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act by a vote of 270-152:
“Both the House and the Senate overwhelmingly supported a measure to put more Americans back to work and move our country towards energy independence. I hope the president seizes this opportunity to create thousands of jobs for American workers and strengthen our local economies.”
S. 1 would authorize the construction of 875 miles of 36-inch pipe with the capacity to transport 830,000 barrels per day to transport oil sands crude from Canada and shale oil produced in North Dakota and Montana to a market hub in Nebraska for further delivery to Gulf Coast refineries. The bill passed the Senate last week with a vote of 62-36 and now heads to the president’s desk.
Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District in Indiana, where she serves as a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, House Armed Services Committee, and House Committee on Agriculture.
