WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Rep. Jackie Walorski (IN-02), a member of the House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Conference Committee and member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, made the following statement after H.R. 3230, the Veterans’ Access to Care through Choice, Accountability, and Transparency Act, passed the House by a vote of 420-5:
“On behalf of the 54,000 veterans in my district and the 20 million veterans across America who deserve quality care, I’m proud to have been a member of the VA Conference Committee and helped pass legislation that will improve the lives of our nation’s veterans.
“However, simply providing a financial boost to an agency that has repeatedly demonstrated awful management practices will not solve the problem. In the coming weeks and months, we must continue to stand together to ensure additional oversight is conducted and improvements are made to the Department.
“There is much more work to be done. Now is our opportunity as legislators to take the first steps towards real change at the VA.”
