WALORSKI SUPPORTS PASSAGE OF THE STUDENT SUCCESS ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) released the following statement after the House voted to pass the Student Success Act, H.R. 5:
“As the wife of a schoolteacher, I was proud to support this legislation to pass meaningful education reforms for Hoosier schools and families. The Student Success Act moves away from unworkable federal regulations and allows states the flexibility to develop creative, innovative policies for their students.
“Speaking with school administrators, teachers, and parents at home, it is clear that Hoosiers want more localized control so they can make the best decisions for our students. Today, the House adopted commonsense measures to move America’s education system in the right direction. This bill removes No Child Left Behind legislation, facilitates greater parental involvement, and prohibits the President from forcing states to enact Common Core standards.
“I am also extremely pleased that this bill fortifies funding for vulnerable groups and reauthorizes important programs and protections for homeless students.”
